I also had a 97 900 SE Turbo. From what I have seen, I would guess no - unless you opt to delete the balance chain in the process. The engine is closer to the frame in the NG900, so there’s less room to finagle things. I could be wrong, maybe it’s doable, but it might be less frustration to pull the powertrain out. There’s a website by planatoff that does it, you might check that to see how they did it.
