Turbo + Downpipe Change and California Smog.. - Saabnet.com Bulletin Board
Hey guys. I have a 1995 Saab 9000. OBD1 so no plug in to the computer.
I need a turbo, I've been thinking of upgrading to a TD04-19T, then maybe downpipe, and exhaust.
Am I allowed to change the turbo to something different? I could get a TD04-19T and no smog tech is going to be able to tell since it looks and bolts up the same. What if I wanted to put on a holset or something. Any recommendations?
The second question is can I change the downpipe? Would it have to be CARB approved? I see a big ole 90 coming right out of the turbocharger and if I could make that bigger and a smoother bend, it would probably help spool-up alot.
Anyone know of any 3" carb legal cats?
