I wrote, "The '94 manual says add 5.1L, 5.4 Qt." I received today a hard copy of the '94 manual, part number 40 58 60.

The manual specifies on page 117 the oil capacity for an oil and filter change is "4.4 qts (5.1 l)". I thought at first it might be imperial quarts for the UK market. However the '94 manual also specifies "9.5 qts (9.0 l)" of antifreeze which has a correct conversion between liters and U.S. quarts. The "4.4 qts" of oil may have been a carry-over from the 1993 owners manual which Saab should have updated when they updated the liter quantity.

The grade of oil specified in the '94 manual was API Service SG. In the '96 owners manual API Service SH was specified. I don't know what was specified in the '95 owners manual. The Saab 9000 Service Manual for model years 1985-1995 specifies API Service SG oil

The '94 owners manual is copyrighted 1993 and may have gone to press before the editors were aware of all the changes to the B234 engine. On page 117 it also says the compression ratios for the turbo engines is 8.5:1 when in fact it was changed to 9.25:1.

I'll correct my post to show the error in the '94 owners manual.
