If it is a Clarion the radio has a circuit that goes though the equalizer. I can't remember what my symptoms were as it's been a few years but may have been the same as yours. I called an indy Saab shop and they mentioned the equalizer. I replaced the equalizer and everything worked again. I searched here for old posts as I had mentioned to someone else here about changing the equalizer. The other functions of my equalizer seemed fine. I think it's only circuit related to the code that goes through both.
