Boost....followed by busted exhaust?!
Posted by Mike Singh [Email] (more from Mike Singh) on Thu, 19 Apr 2018 20:40:10
Was hoping to get some more advice on my recently acquired 91 9kt.
Had been out for a drive just and hour ago, got into the boost in second gear (this car pulls hard, but lately, the boost has been fluctuating). The car boosted hard, into the border of the red yellow and red zone, when suddenly, I hear a loud "BOOM", and now the car sounds like a very expensive motorboat. Or perhaps an old mustang. Very, very loud exhaust sound. Drives fine, though.
Any ideas what I might have done?
I live in the city, so I can't jack it up right now. Maybe blew up the cat? I was smelling gas fumes, before, and now they are a little more prominent.
Thanks, in advance, for all the help here, folks!
