Not sure about the quality of the CV boots themselves. But I did an auto to 5 speed swap on my 9000 it's a 97. The axles that came out of the automatic and the ones that were in the 5-speed were the same. But when I ordered a rebuilt set from O'Reilly's the tripod bearing was bigger on several of the ones that we ordered.it took several attempts to get the smaller tripod bearings for the 5-speed transmission. Not really sure what the difference is in the tripod bearings.
