I replaced the CPS; the connector is a few inches behind the alternator and down about six inches below the intake manifold - I was able to disconnect the connector and unplug the CPS cable with one hand - all in all not that hard. I bought an FAE sensor (made in Spain - not China) and it was initially a very tight fit into the hole in the engine block - had to tap it in with a mallet.
Unfortunately, my wife drove the car the next day, went on a big grocery shopping trip to a Costco about 10 miles away (including some ice cream) and after she loaded up the car I got a call that it wouldn't start! By the time I got to it, the engine started right up, so I guess that the hot starting issue isn't fixed. I have been driving it every day since then without issue. Next step is a fuel pump on my 195K mile car.
