The quality of rebuilt alternators is pretty variable. I made out OK with one from Auto Zone, but there are lots of horror stories about their rebuilds as well. If the Bosch regulator is not too expensive I'd probably try that first, keep it as a spare if the alternator winds up being replaced.
Something to check: Make sure the small green wire that attaches to the alternator is OK. On mine even though it looked good it was actually corroded at the terminal and made my recently-installed alternator appear to be bad.
