My 12 or so year Aero adventure... Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Thu, 9 May 2019 00:28:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
With the car purchased from a man some here will remember as 'Quasimotors' is close to its ending now.
It has given me much pleasure and been wonderfully dependable as well - having come from someone who was very dedicated to its proper upkeep;
A tradition which I continued.
It was bought and arrived with the speedometer inoperative due to its silly plastic gear having disintegrated in the gearbox - a rather huge job all for the sake of installing a ~$13 part.
Some time ago it began kicking itself out of 4th gear pretty forcibly - neither very often, nor predictably.
Some weeks ago it began also kicking itself VERY hard out of 2nd gear, which was a definite uh-oh kind of thing.
Then we took it for around a 25 mile drive to a nearby town, and it got worse, with punctuations made by the bang-clunking sounds & vibrations as accompaniment.
The return trip was a bit nerve wracking as it got even worse & by the time we reached our little street 2nd gear was no longer usable at all.
I had to coast it to a stop & use all my strength to hold it into 1st gear to enter the driveway, then coast it to its last parking here.
It is now designated as my parts donor car & will be towed to its final spot soon.
With any luck at all the '97 Aero replacing it will soon be ready for my desired final adjustments...it will be my 4th Aero & hopefully will outlive me !!
My 1st Aero was a '93 TCS car that tried to eat me out of house & home; my 2nd Aero was a 2nd owner '94 - a real dream car for me, that I lost in avoiding a collision with 2 moose.
The '94 I am now getting done with was the 3rd.
I consider myself to have been quite blessed in being able to enjoy so many of these terrific cars for such a long time !!
