Did exactly this, and got the blend door to shut into position in which I am only getting ice cold air-conditioned air. (if you read through the air conditioning manual for the 9000 posted here on saabnet, in the manuals section, you can see that the blend door at 0% open and 100% open equate to maximum heat, or max cold. (one or the other...))
I have then programmed my ACC unit to always stay on "lo"(max cool)...this way ensuring it doesnt want to start to move around and blend air, and get stuck on full hot again. So far so good.
It still clicks like crazy, but I am not suffering from hot air on hot days.
I actually am driving with the dash off currently, gearing up to remove the servo. I have read that there's a chance I can manipulate the gears on the servo to possibly re-mesh and solve my problem...and if not, Ill find a replacement.
FYI: I did observe through aquarium tank that the lever is not broken and the shift cable for the blend door is intact and works...
Hopefully I will get the servo out soon and be able to post some resolution (either restoring the current unit, or replacing)
looks like removal of air ducts to get at back screw (of three) for the servo removal, or removing the passenger side airbag (no glovebox on '96)...which I started to do, and got to point where I "gently" remove it while releasing it from its "clips" (from haynes manual)
Well and good, save I cant seem to "gently" remove it from whatever clips are still retaining it, and I dont love the idea of forcing it, even with battery disconnected for 30 minutes plus....
May be with dash off i can peek behind and find said clips and release them from back end gently, rather than bu pulling force...
For what its worth the fascia trim that needs to be removed first (by two screws and three retaining clips) which then allows access to the airbag screws, took A LOT of force to unclip.
like much-trim-tool-leverage-shock-force....
if anyone has removed passenger side airbag before, any tips on these "clips" would be appreciated, as removing the servo looks a might bit easier with it out.
and thanks and thanks
