Sunroof "sponge" weatherstrip came out Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Sat, 22 Jun 2019 21:09:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Today I noticed that suddenly the sunroof in my '97 CSE didn't want to hardly move. I found that there was a piece of sponge rubber weatherstripping that had come loose and was jamming the works. I removed that and the sunroof works now but I'm concerned that it's going to leak with that removed. I checked the board and it is reported that the headliner has to come out to replace the weatherstrip.
How serious a problem is this going to be in the rain? That piece doesn't look like it would stop much but obviously it was there for a reason. I can't see myself having time to remove the headliner any time soon to fix this. I guess the sunroof could be sealed up with duct tape but even though this car is a rusty, high-mileage beater I hate to do that.
