First, thanks everyone for the fast responses. Unfortunately the saga continues. (Trying to install the hands free cell kit on a 2000 9-5)
I was able to get the left side of the radio loose last night, but the right was not cooperating. I figured I should quit before I damage something trying, and find the Saab tool to remove the radio somewhere. I went to a Saab dealership, not the one I bought the car from, early this morning and got the tool for 12 bucks. I came home and started playing again. I can reliably install and remove the left side, but can not get the right side out. One nice thing about the Saab tool is that it is color coded so you know just how far to stick it in.
Anyway, I can't seem to get the right side out. Perhaps I bent something up last night trying... As Göran said the connector I need is behind the climate control, but I was unable to remove that either.
Göran told me that I should be able to remove the climate control without removing the radio. I got two thin pieces of plastic and inserted them on either side of the climate control. I could not feel any catches, and was not sure if I was doing things right. Göran, If you can better explain the procedure I sure would appreciate it.
My other idea was to remove the woodgrain pannel that surrounds the radio and the dash. I can get all the clips free on the drivers side, but once I get near the center of the vehicle it feels screwed in. (Probably behind the #@! radio. I tried to remove the lower woodgrain pannel that goes around the shifter, but I can't get that either. It seems there are two screws located behind the small cubby where ash tray would be. How the heck do I get the cubby out? If I don't do that I can't get the screws out.
I have been trying to get at the radio from other angles, but have not been real successful. I removed the glove box, and some other trim items on the left side, but still can't get a hand on the radio. I did find the remote antennae lead. I was getting frustrated and decided to post back and take a few minutes to cool off. Thanks in advance for your help guys...
