I should have mentioned what you found out. The early 9000 5 spds were designed to that you did not have to change the oil. If you want to, you will have to use a thin hose and pump to extract the old oil out. I just stopped worrying about it. I use Castrol GTX 10W40 in my 5 spd with 4 oz. of Militec-1. I have been using Militec-1 for over 6 years. In my two older 900s, it all but stopped excessive wear. The mettalic sludge on the drain plugs disappeared, after I started using Militec-1. I had a habit of changing the oil on my 900s every 20,000 to 25,000 miles. From what I have read the newer 9000s are designed so the tranny oil can be drained and changed. Just know that the oil in your 5 spd is not exposed to the same contaminants as in your engine, so it stays cleaner a lot longer. I tried draining some out last year with a drill pump. It was a pain in the behind.
