Check out the site below for more info on Aeros and their year-model differences. As you will notice, the '95's and later have more amenities, like HK 10-speaker sound system, wood dash, etc. It would be wise to stay away from TCS in any case. The '94 and later have a re-engineered engine and manual transaxle, which may make it more reliable and sturdy.
I had a '91 like your's and the differences are large, yet small--as it is immediately noticeable that the car's are from the same family. The Aero is quieter, smoother due to taller gearing, and gets better mileage.
It feels less-peppy at low speeds because of boost restrictions in first gear and the gearing, but when spooled up feels stronger thanks to the larger Mitsu turbo. The newer body style is torsionally stiffer and feels more solid, and the seats...well, they're in a class by themselves. IMHO, having owned both, the Aero is an evolutionary step toward perfection for the 9K.
