New goodies - good news

Well, I got the car back with its Abbott butterfly bushes and report a distinct improvement. Someone told me that being polyurethane they would transmit too much road noise/vibration through the steering but with my tyres – P6000s @ 205x55x16 – there's nothing to complain about. Maybe 18" wheels and rubber band tyres would be uncomfortable. On the plus side, there's much less weaving under braking and the steering's faster to react when switching direction.
Two or three weeks ago I posted that my new EBC Greenstuff pads were less than mindblowing. Well, I was told – and I keep an open mind on this – that Kevlar pads produce gas which needs to be permitted to escape, and the best way of doing this was with grooved discs (rotors). By this time my discs were showing signs of distortion and had covered 88K miles so I bought grooved grey iron ones from Trent Saab, costing about £150 plus tax and carriage. Although Trent Saab recommended new pads we rubbed down the Greenstuff ones with 80 grit production paper and put them back on, as they'd only done about 1K miles.
Braking is now a heck of a lot better so, gas or not, I'm the proverbial happy bunny. Will bed them in carefully, of course. Has anyone else had similar hiccups with kevlar pads, or was it just that my discs were on the way out anyway?
