Out gasing of pads is a too often a mis-understood item. Older technology pads which had high organic and asbestos contents had the out-gassing problem. The newer technology pads, such as carbon and kevalr high metallic pads do not out-gas. Old racing technology used to overcome out-gasing by using drilled rotors (which crack easily). Slotted rotors are derived from racing technology to de-glaze the pads, that is remove glazed/burnt material to reveal fresh pad by the means of a wiping motion. Most vendors who sell this trendy slotted and drilled rotors don't know squat about them. I would not use drilled rotors, they crack, period. Slotted rotors do improve braking by de-glazing the pads, keeping them clean and new but will wear out the pads a bit faster. They also improve braking in heavy rain by removing water off the rotors. You only need 3 or 4 slots per side. The fancy rotors with a zillion slots are crap, for looks only and can actually hurt braking by removing so much surface area of the rotor and eat your pads even faster.
