Thanks for the suggestions on what to do. I'll remove the barrel from the ignition and ensure it is clean and lubed. It doesn't seem to be too stiff currently and there are no cuts at the root of the key, so I'll do what I can. The one original steel key doesn't seem to have any problems. Both of the keys I have snapped were brass, and yes they had a large top. It surprised me how easily they twisted off. Steel key blanks are supposed to be in the mail.
