Saabers,
The car is actually a 80 900, yet since it is a B engine, I figured the drive train is closer to a 99T
A few weeks ago, I assumed my battery was on its way out, for the cranks in the cold morning, were lethargic-compared to the instant firing prior.
Last week, I stopped at the store, and came back out, and the battery was dead. Stranded, I walked and walked to an Autozone, and purchased a Jumper pack. By the way, don't buy a jumperpack from Autozone: it is crap.
The car started.
A few days ago, on a cold morning I came out to a dead battery. I placed the Autozone Jumper, and the crank was so slow, that it discharged the fully charged jumperpack!
I removed the battery, trickle charged it over night, installed- same thing..slow crank, and dead. The next day, I went out to the car, and the crank was slow, and Kazoom! I attached my voltmeter, and the alternator was kicking out 13 and a half volts. Ok, I said, I have errands to run. I jump in the car, and drove off...
Two blocks later, I felt a shudder...Shortly, thereafter, the engine suddenly turned off. I crank( slow crank) then the battery was dead.
I had to leave the car, charged the jumper pack, returned, locked the cables on the battery- and a healthy crank: yet the engine would not fire. I pull out my voltmeter, turn the key to the run position: and check the number 15 terminal on the coil-nothing.
I had to leave the car- ( freezing) . I returned with the idea of towing, yet cranked the key- instantly: kazoom! I jumped in the vehicle and drove off.
Now, earlier today, I placed a battery in, and turned the key- and a medium paced crank, and kazoom. I pull out the voltmeter...13 and half volts. I tap terminal 15 with the voltmeter-6.28 volts. I did not know that 900 had resistors! I turned the engine off- then turned the key to the running position- tap terminal 15 on the coil- 1.36 volts.
Shouldn't the coil be 12 volts less the engine running, and key turned to the running position??
What is your opinions, Saabers?
Secondly, I searched for the resistor, yet could not locate it. Does anyone know where it is located on a 900?
Thanks
