74 brake master cylinder/ Doug?

Doug, or someone else who is experienced?
I went all out-ordered rebuilt calipers, all around, brake pads/hardware, and new hoses, for the 74 d jet. The only thing that I have not found is the master cylinder, or seals. The car has sat for a long time, and the calipers- seized. My parcel should be coming this week. Here is the question. When I apply the brake pedal, the pedal gets stuck, and I have to lift up the pedal manually-no spring action. I removed all of the brake pads so that the car could roll. What would cause the symptom with the pedal-collapsed hoses, or master cylinder?
Any sources for the brake mc(pre 75) or seals? I may be going overboard with the brake system, yet a few tears ago, I mashed up the front of my classic Saab-into a Lincoln. Any advice would be great...to get these brakes top notch.
Lastly, the emergency handbrake is beginning to slip. Is there a drum of some sort with this system?
