Welcome Gary, that clears it up!
So, not sure if Doug(or Gary), could answer this question- since you have a 1974, yet Partsgeek lists a 1974 Saab 1974 brake master- a Girling cylinder. Will that work? I assumed it was a mistake for my brake master is made by ATE.
Was 1974 a split year? meaning that the master that is advertised on that site works with a 1975 model as well?
Oh Doug, thanks for that image of the spare ATE brake master. I just sent it to Specialty service( a company like Whitepost) in California, so the owner can inspect it. He quoted me a price of 170.00- cheaper than White post. I'll bite the bullet if I must, but he stated the same, with re sleeving, new seals-lie Whitepost. I'll find out if uses a brass re-sleeve. He stated just to re sleeve it is a 100.00. Of course you must have a rebuild kit.
It is not that I am cheap, but 245 is a tad much in comparison, and I have plenty of other cylinders to rebuild!
P.S. where did you discover the spare master cylinder, Doug?
P.S.S. The spring at the pedal seems fine. Before I removed the brake master, the symptoms was sticky pedal. If I pressed hard enough, it would actually jamb up, and a bit of effort would be required to pick it back up.
