Jim is right, the 99 continued to evolve from 1981 through 1985 and then as the model 90 (with rear sheetmetal shared with the 900) in 1986 and 1987. The good news in terms of parts and service is that pretty much all of those changes were things shared with the 900, so it may actually be easier to get H-motor parts than the earlier B-motor parts. The same could be true for wheel bearings, etc. Although there continued to be (I think)some carbureted models, those would have been the "low end" trim, and some/most cars would have had the same K-Jetronic fuel injection as US cars. Jim is also right that at this points you need to find a specialist to work on that fuel injection. So, the bottom line is a) it would be interesting, and, b) Strictly my opinion, but I don't think it would be any more difficult to find parts/service at this point than any other 99. But keep in mind that it's difficult to find parts/service for any 99 at this point. Keep us posted!
Good Luck,
Gary
