Alvaro, that cable goes to the service indicator module - it turns on the red light on the dash every 12,000 miles (I think) to remind you to change the Oxygen/Lambda sensor. That mechanism puts extra drag on the odometer mechanism which causes the drive gear to fail prematurely (and the odometer then stops working). So on most cars that cable was removed long ago. If you want to keep it in place it sounds like you already have the ideal solution (the cable housing with no inner cable. If you really want a replacement cable, send me an email - I might have one that I can give you.
