Overheated starter on 76 EMS Posted by Pete [Email] (#2000) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Pete) on Tue, 22 Jul 2003 21:15:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm having a problem with my starter on the 76' EMS. Even with a heat shield the headers tend to "lock-up" the starter after I've driven say 20+ miles and developed sufficient heat ( especially here in N. CA with our 100 + degree weather lately).
I usually have to either let it cool down for ½ hour or tap the starter several times with a long nail I carry and occasionally burn a wrist before the EMS starts again.
The headers are wrapped in heat shielding material, but it still gets real hot by the starter.
Anybody have this problem and a soulution or suggestions?
