Ya know... you hope for the best... and its a good way to go, but I also tend to expect the worst, that way I don;t get as upset or pissed off when the worst does happen.

The gods of all things Swedish were with me in force over the last 4 days.

I am home with the 99 and the trip was as uneventful as one could have hoped for. This is the "good" and more I could not have hoped for. The '74 99 w/220k body miles and 85k engine miles just loved cruising at 70 mph. Truckers get a BIG thank you for being extremely cautious and polite around me... hint- Get the Antique Auto plates - they really help.

I am still in a daze.. I got in at noon on sunday having pulled a 26 hours driving stint with a 15 min and 1 hour cat nap in there.. Fri I drove 14 hours and stopped in sum town in Illinois directly South of Chicago, and Thurs I stated in LongMont CO at 6pm and drove until I hit North Platt Nebraska.. all told about 46 hours of on the road time, with pee/gas breaks about every 2-4 hours.

Given I was driving a 29 yr old car the trip was comfy. A bit loud as the exhaust is running through one turbo muffler. The weather was perfect, A bit warm on Sat, but a few gallons of water and I was ok... tunes were ample.. bought a could of cheapo speakers at Wally work in North Platte.

FLAT... Nebreaska, Iowa and Illinois are flat flat flat.. by the time I hit the relatively hilly sections on Penn, i thought I was in the mnountains..

The weather was a bit off in CO when I left so I ditched the tour through the rockies side trip... it was raining hard up in the mountains....

Nothing broken, no hiccups, not tickets..

and I saw all of three Saabs before hitting New England

A C900 and 9-5 and a 9-3, all of which acted like the didn;t see me.. I di get a bunch of truckers and other folks slowing down and giving me a thumbs up... one gal in the pass seat of a semi got my attention... they were along side for a few miles and wehn I looked up she was there grinning away giving me the thumsup/OK sign and they roared off... they had waited until I looked... it was apecial moment...

cheers all
