The best is the 99EMS

My vote is for the 99 Saab notchback. Light and strong..a true rally car. The power is there and handling is superb. The 900 nose a little too long as the 99 corners better. As for the 96..not enpugh power out of a bend. V4 throws handling out as the front is too heavy. The two stroke handling is best but a slow performer. So there is my opinion. Each model has its plus and minuses. I agree that the 96 would be terrible in an accident. There is simply too much raw metal to collide into. The thought of a knee smashing into the area underneath the steering wheel is alarming. Those seats? Whiplash easy..even the later pretzel headrest seats found on the V4s. I often hear complaints from old Saabers about "saab forgeeting their roots" I think what really put Saab at the forefront was the 900 Turbo. It was a beautiful model at the time. Unique, fast and safe. During the mid eighties....Saab began to lose it. The 9000 made the company generic. And now? Saab is garbage. I would not buy anything new. There are plenty of cars that I feel are superior to the crap the company is putting out. It boils down to a small company. It's similar to Volvo. That sqaure 240 was a beautiful car as well. Very strong tank in those years..but then came the crappy 740 and later the 850 which helped the company but eventually Volvo had to bow. Ford has her now and the cars are crap just like Saab cars. The honly answer is to restore the old ones!
