Bench testing of an ignition condensor Posted by SaabDude [Email] (#370) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabDude) on Tue, 6 Jul 2010 07:23:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all, hope everyone had a safe "American Birthday" Party this weekend!
As the subject indicates, I'm inquiring to the MasterMinds of all things SAAB the following question:
Is there anyway to bench test my ignition condensor.
I know the factory repair manual says that an ignition COIL should test roughly 3.5 ohms from pin 1 to 15. But I didn't find anywhere any procedures for testing the ignition condensor. I have 3 used ones and don't know the status.
My engine is turning over, but not firing.
I'm getting spark from the coil, thru the points and out of the distributor cap at each of the four plug wires (rubber gripped pliers, with spark jumping from the cap to wire)
My budget won't yet allow the purchase of a Pertronix Ingitor... so I'm still using the points and condensor...
Thanks,
SaabDude
