Yes, you have to take the fender off to tighten the nut on the base of the antenna. The fender comes of with 12 fender screws that hold it on to the car , starting from inside the door jab where the hinge of the door is. While you are in there you can also repair / replace the fender welt the sealing strip that seals the fender to the body! Depending on your car, it is black or Grey.
