Yes I have used the HF compressor too, it's large in size but works well, Make the spring coils into the arms of the compressor. If and when you're ready to pull the spring, then make take it slow and keep face away from the path of the spring.
The HF tool also works great on Saab 99/900 springs for the front. Good Luck!
