I know the 99 is different, but I've had a couple of different kinds of sounds come out of the front brakes of my Sonett while turning, so you might want to check these:
-- Pad shims: Are you SURE you got the shims and other hardware seated properly when you put the brakes back together? One time I had a scraping noise when turning and the cause turned out to be that one of the shims had slipped slightly, allowing part of it to scrape against the rotor surface.
-- Backing plate: On my car a sharp turn loads up the suspension just enough that the lip of the brake backing plate (which fits very closely on the 97; don't know about the 99) can sometimes just barely touch the edge of the rotor; this produces a "ringing" noise.
In both cases I was able to spot the trouble by jacking up the front of the car, taking off both front wheels, and looking carefully at the brakes as I turned the hubs by hand.
