The post '82 seats won't just fit in by drilling holes in the rails... the fixing method, tilting mechanism and the runners are all different, even thought the seats themselves look the same [adjustable headrests]. I've put 900 seats in 99s and 99 seats in 96s a few times, you need to get the earlier ones. BUT if the seat material, padding etc is al good you can take them apart and fit to a set of earlier seats, which will likely be really cheap if the condition is not too hot. It'll take some skin off your fingers but it's worth doing.
