Pull the grill and the radiator. This will give you easy access to the
water pump. While the radiator is out take it to the shop for testing/rodout/repair. Change the lower hose while you're at it, it is a nasty job (like the water pump) with the radiator in. Try to find a correct
U-shaped lower hose or make one out of two 90 sections joined with a
copper pipe coupling from the plumbing store and hose clamps, or do what I did and have the radiator shop solder a copper 90 bend to the down-pointing lower hose nipple on the radiator, then find an appropriate molded hose to connect from your now-horizontal lower radiator nipple to the water pump inlet. Do not use the corrugated "bend to fit" radiator hose, it has a short life-span.
