Hello all. I am new to the Saab scene, as I just purchased a 2000 Viggen Convertible. I think I could really fall for this car, but I have to get a rough idle issue solved first. At initial cold start, it fires up immediately and runs smoothly. However, as it warms up and the RPMs go down to normal (about 900 RPM), it runs rough and misses. Raise the RPMs just a bit, and it ALMOST runs perfectly. Eventually, it set a code P0300 (random/multiple misfire). From looking thru the archives on this site and others, it appears that this problem is often traced to the DIC. However, I have a receipt from the previous owner showing that he just bought a new DIC for it in May. Anyway, I think I could use some help figuring this out. Anyone in Marin county on this forum? I will start with the basics like tune-up parts (plugs & filters) and look for any obvious problems like vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, and such. But, it looks like a lot of diagnostic work is done by "replacing with a known good part" so instead of throwing parts at the problem, or paying a shop to fix it, I would rather meet up with someone local (preferably with a Viggen!) so we could try to fix it ourselves. Of course, I would reciprocate if there is ever a problem with your car. Anyone interested?
