Thanks Gary! I will be first in line for an LED solution! In NC, you need to have the bulb, even if its redundant, every safety feature is supposed to be working to get an inspection.
Just got my sockets and bulbs replaced, I HAD one Visteon and one Uro. Both bulb filaments looked ok, both sockets looked a little overheated on the very top (nearest the glass). The Uro was a little melted near the littlest tab on the outside of the socket. The Uro was also melted inside, where the bulb tab melted UP, just like you guys said it would.
I think the Uro is the one that gave out, it was the driver side, which makes be think the failure is blinker related, as you might have to keep that blinker on longer to cross traffic. Just a guess.
Both BULBS were severly melted on the bottom, where they make contact with the bottom of the socket. Both seriously deformed, when you compare with a good bulb.
NO DOUBT, I am going to replace bulbs and sockets every year until I can get an LED solution to work. I have heard that BMWs have this issue as well, I am searching some of those boards now.
