The only way I would even fantasize about buying a NG 9-5 is at a price so low that I can self-insure. By this, I'm talking about warranty and all repairs being something I'm going to have to write the check for (absent any settlement between me and my insurance company in the event of collision, theft or etc.) Then there's "risk insurance" that I may not be able to find repair parts at all. The price quoted in the OP sounds like it MAY be low enough, but I haven't done any numbers.
Our 9-5 will be pushing 150K at this time next year, and we've decided it's new vehicle time in 2013. At this point, it will be something other than SAAB. I was in for the 120K service a few weeks ago, and our dealer has an astonishing number of SAABs on his lot: a dozen 9-5s, the same number of 9-3s and 7 or 8 9-4s. And he thinks that a "sale" price on a SAAB with a $45K sticker is $42K......and when I asked the salesman if I would get a warranty with one of those, and how I would repair it if their service department couldn't get parts, all I got was a stare like a Holstein cow chewing her cud. I told him to go to Fargo and tell his manager that when the day came they were willing to negotiate DOWN from half the sticker, my number was in their computer.
