I would recommend the car. I own the 2010 Aero XWD which I bought about 4 years ago new and now has 23,000 miles. There have been a few problems, which are not uncommon: In-dash NAV/Radio system failed in the first year, replaced at my cost (Saab warranty no longer useful). Also, the rear tail-light bulb holders tend to melt. I've had to replace a few of these, but the replacement parts are available and cheap. I also bought an after-market warranty from the GM dealer that sold the car. It was quick reasonable, about $4500 with no deductible. Warranty is only valid at GM dealers, but there's no shortage of them around. So far, haven't had to use the warranty but nice to know its there if I need to replace the GPS again. You can search this board for problems others have reported.
I love the way the car handles. Performance is excellent, and the XWD works beautifully on wet or snowy roads. We also have a 4MATIC Mercedes and the Saab's XWD is superior. Technically, the Saab is only slightly behind our 2014 MB and is more fun to drive. Very comfortable and spacious car.
I think for $17k, it is an excellent choice, even if you have to pay $5,000 or so for a warranty. Both eEuroparts and Saab USA are great sources for parts.
