Here's the deal I did not take

I was considering upgrading my base MY99 9^3 convert to a MY00 Viggen convert. My regular dealer was sold out of silver so I dealt to Carter VW (Seattle) who had two in silver -- one in showroom, one being driven daily by sales mgr with 6000 miles. I approached sales mgr on Oct 2, the last day of the $6000 trunk money + $1000 SAAB owner money. He was willing to go invoice minus the $7000 on the Viggen, but could not offer me as much as I wanted on my MY99. I would have had to pay more than $11,000 to upgrade, so I walked. Could I have gotten the invoice minus $7000 in a cash deal with no trade-in? I don't know. I also don't know what the current incentive program is.
