RWD are real suckers on slippy roads... sure
you can move em fast on a wet road but without
all these electronic trouble makers ESP etc..
you will end up trashing your BMW into something.
FWD is the best way to get extra safety and fuel
economy in a car. It's lighter, simpler and much
easier to drive on a slippy road. And most people
have no idea how to drift a RWD car on a slippy road.
Interesting enough but all modern rally cars with
FWD are much faster then their RWD competitors.
AWD cars offer the highest traction available, but only
few manage to get the handling right. The Lancia Delta Integralle
Evo2 being a perfect example on how to do it, and the
BMW 330ix being the perfect example on how to screw it up along
will all Audi AWD products.
As to power... scince I drive a 9-5 Aero I can only say that
only the 540 and M5 are faster and that the 530, 528, 523 and
all the rest are unable to keep up when it goes uphill. And the
higher we go, the less power they have.
As to the 9-3 Aero and Viggen, I would take one any day over
and BMtrouble you... when the BMW will have 200'000 miles it
will be uterly worn down, while the SAAB will be good for another
200'000 miles if well maintained.
But hey, drive your beemer and let us SAABers enjoy our cars
long after your BMW will have been recycled, trashed or crashed. HEHE
Regards,
Coolknight drives a 2000 9-5 Aero 5spd
P.S. In Europe the resale value for a SAAB is better then for
a BMW... I wonder why.
