You can change the headlight bulb without removing the headlight, however it is easier to first time to remove the headlight assembly and really see what is going on. The headlight assembly is self aligning so there is no need to re-aim the headlight after re-installing.
Also, you will need to remove the grill before removing the headlight assembly. The grill is easy to remove, just a couple spring clips at the top and then lift straight up.
