Gearbox Malfunction Update

Here is an update on the problem with the "Gearbox Malfunction Error - See Dealer" light that has come on a number of 2003 9-3SS's at a very early stage.
So, the problem is your Transmission Range Switch Module, which is some module that goes into the console near the shifter. The problem is not one that affects performance or, as far as I am aware, one that has the potential to affect performance in the future. It appears to be a latent defect in the manufacturing. To get the part replaced, you're likely going to have to wait at least a week while it is shipped from Sweden (which is what I'm doing) as the North American depot has none. They also can't just rip one of these modules out of another car and reinstall, for some reason that escapes me.
It is really just a question as to whether you can handle seeing an error light on your shiny new car (or can deal with the annoyance of pressing "clear" on your console every time you start up). I also don't know what happens when there is a real error if there is an existing error (does the real error take precedence over this gearbox message? don't know). I also don't know what implications are there for your warranty if you continue to drive the car in the face of an error light -- I'd check the warranty.
