idler pulley

I would bet on the idler pulley over the tensioner.

Someone on this board suggested using a scrap of garden hose or similar size hose to listen to the noise from each pulley while idling. This way you can diagnose which is failing. Some have re-greased bearings, but I went ahead and replaced the belt and idler pulley at 60k for piece of mind.
I kept the other as a spare as this issue is a showstopper.
