My 2000 9-3 just started blowning blue smoke at startup a week ago. May be unrelated but I had the throttle body replaced (I think it was a bad position sensor but I was told the whole throttle body had to be replaced because the sensor cannot be serviced). To fix the smoke problem the turbo would have to be replaced at a $1400 total ($800 parts, $600 labor) which is way more than a few hundred dollars. So don't feel bad. I've had the synthetic oil changed often and only have 41,000 miles. Bought it used with 20,000 miles. Did not do the 30,000 mile rip-off service.
