Thanks, Enzo. It works perfectly. A couple of suggestions
1) I bought the hydraulic fluid "Pentosin Red Top NG 900 Cars meeting CHF11s standards Pentosin" from http://www.thesaabsite.com/common/Saabsitefluids93.htm . It costs about $30 with ground shipping (came in 2-3 business days). I added to the fluid already present in the pump. It seem to be working well. Top opens in 25 secs without a glitch.
2) You don't necessarily need a syringe to put the fluid in. So don't postpone it until you find a syringe. The hole you can put the fluid through is about half an inch wide so you can even make a paper cone and shove it inside.
3) When you screw back the 8 nuts, put them all loosely first and make sure they go in without too much trouble. I found that the plate is really tight around the nut holes; if you screw one tightly, there is a good chance that others wont fit well.
4) Before you screw the nuts and put the plastic cover back, try to open the top. Nuts being unscrewed shouldn't be a problem. At least you'll notice if something goes wrong without having to redo the whole thing.
Thanks to Enzo one more time!!
