Fairly typical/common problem with all mid late 90's Saabs.
The Volt regulator simply overcharges the pore Battery and leaks acid all over whatever is below it. IMO "most Saabs have this problem. Suggest going to your local Alternator rebuilder shop and tell them of the problem , asking them for a New/replacement voltage regulator unit for the Bosch Alternator that charges at a lower ( more battery friendly) voltage.
No big deal, should cost approx $25 and take you about 10 mins to reinstall.
