So, I decided to enjoy the nice weather and my recovery from the flu today with a nice joyride. I got about 15 miles from home and suddenly began to notice a significant loss of power. I pulled off the highway and turned off the stereo and about crapped my pants to hear a well pronounced knock. Thankfully, I quickly realized the knock went away under load, and came back with no load; phew not a rod bearing. So, now I can clearly tell the engine isn't running right but is okay and I'm continuing down another, lesser traveled, road and listening/feeling it out to determine if I can limp it back home. Eventually, I came to a stop and the engine shut off. So, a quick listen later, with my trusty stethoscope confirmed something happened with my timing chain. Fortunately, I've still got compression on all four cylinders and it 'sounds' uniform. So, I know what I'm doing tomorrow. Wish me luck that my valves are all intact.
