99 Saab 9-3 Jerking, Engine light & Temp gauge issue

I recently purchased a 99 Saab 9-3 with 120k miles. It was fine when i got it a week ago and had good power except for if i accelerated fairly hard and the boost would go into the bottom part of the red zone and the car would jerk, which i think was quite normal but two days ago after i drove it hard, it began to jerk and idle a little rough. The engine light had come on about 50miles before that and now when i accelerate into the mid yellow, the engine light begins to flicker for about 10seconds before it goes back to staying lit up.
The engine jerks when i accelerate through all gears but is worse when i accelerate light. it seems better if i accelerate a little more. The car is idling rough and occasionally idles high (about 2k rpm)... the other strange thing that happened is that the stereo stopped working. it still comes on but no sound from the speakers. On top of that the temp gauge sometimes appears to not be working but then suddenly will come up to about half way. I hope someone can help me to figure if this is all related or whether i have multiple issues going on at the same time.
the biggest concern is the temp gauge and the now jerking performance and slight loss of power.
