If you'd been around Indy, I'd have helped out!
How many miles did you have on your car before the cable snapped? Did you have any warning? What kind of driving do you do? I have 36.4K on my '97 SE-T, and so far it shifts smoothly. I occasionally wonder if I should go ahead and get a new cable as preventative maintenance to avoid your experience.
Luckily you were in a driveway when it happened. Much better than being stranded on the road, especially with the Mrs. in tow.
