My '97 900S has just developed severe driveability problems. It stalls intermittently and then sometimes is hard to start. I have to use the flooded engine routine (pedal to the floor) to get it to start. Otherwise it just cranks and cranks.
I took it the dealer and they put back a vacuum hose that had come loose. The car worked fine for a day and then the same problems recurred. Even though the car stalled turning into the dealer, they couldn't find anything wrong when I took it back. They want to keep it for a couple of days to try to work out the problem.
I don't know whether this is connected. But after the car sat out in damp weather for two days without being started a couple of weeks ago, the starter sounded really sluggish (like the battery was dying). It did turn over and after spaying the battery terminals with a waterproofing compound, everthing has been fine. I wonder about the coincidence.
Incidentally, I saw a post about a gremlin plagued 9-3 in an earlier post. I sympathize as this 900 has been a total lemon. Just about everything on the car has been replaced, adjusted or repaired. My lease is up in 3 months and I can hardly wait to dump this crate. It is fun to drive but I need something that is reliable. I think that an Acura 3.2 TL or Volvo S60 is in the cards.
