With Abbott upgrades or the HBC, the cruise control will act differently. With 15 psi of boost on low hills, there is not an issue. On steeper hills, the boost pressure goes up and down, but the speed does not seem to change. The rpm's don't change much. If this happened with an auto trany, it might be irritating. Before the HBC, on steep hills, the speed would droop below the setting.
I am happy that the added boost and boost responsiveness does keep the speed on steep hills. I have been contemplating taking the cruise control unit apart to see if there is a 'gain' adjustment. If there is one, then turning it down would cause the unit to make smaller throttle adjustments in response to the speed error.
Perhaps for models newer than my 95SET, there is a tech-II adjustment that can be made. The ECU creates the speed signal that the controller uses. Perhaps that is the error signal, and the ECU has a speed error gain adjustment.
