Hello,
Sitting will not create a sludge problem. But prolonged sitting allows the lifters to bleed down completely and lower oil pressure due to a partially clogged pick up screen can make it very difficult to pump up the lifters.
Pulling the oil pan to change out the pickup screen and any sludge particles(coffee grounds) from the oil pan is basically a maintenance item on these cars even with frequent oil changes and that type of mileage.
If it was my car and it has not had an oil light on I would pull the pan change the oil pickup screen. If some top end tapping remains I would take off the valve cover again and remove the oiling bolts to the cam and clean them. Good Luck, Bernie
