So I picked up a nice 01 vert for $750 the other day, going to pick it up Friday. I plan on either giving it to my mom or my oldest daughter who will be 16 in November.
Moving on to the problem, the owner says that it will idle fine with no problems at all but once put into gear it will stall out. He has stated that he has replaced a few thing including the cps. He said that it has been diagnosed with a weak fuel pump. I thought pumps either worked or they didn't. I have not come across one that will idle but not keep the car running once in gear.
My question is, is this possible for this to happen or may I have gotten myself into something that I should have averted? Even though he says the plugs have been replace, I will be changing them again because we all know that ppl that are not SAAB ppl almost never put the right plugs in there. I will try a cps test to see if it is good but then again it must be good if the car starts and idles with no problem. Fuel filter has been replaced so I'm led to believe that there is nothing left but the pump.
No matter what the car is paid for and is just waiting to be picked up. I do plan on doing a floor cut to replace the pump. This will be the first convertible that I have ever purchased so I might end up keeping and building a viggen since I have the 2.3 that came out of my 9-5 aero wagon that needed replacment, we will see what happens but for the price I couldn't pass it up. A vert viggen (even if its a built one) would be nice compliment along side an aero wagon in my opinion.
